I&M to Host Free Online Sessions: "Understanding Your Bill" Register Today

3-7-26 3p Update

Update: 3/7/2026 3:07 PM ET

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • I&M crews continue to work to clear debris, make areas safe and restore power to customers who are able to receive it. We understand that for many of our customers, the first step to rebuilding is having your power restored, and we will continue to work around the clock to restore some normalcy to the communities we serve as quickly as possible.
  • We have been all through the area and seen the devastation firsthand. Our job doesn’t stop when power is restored. We know many people in the area will be rebuilding and making repairs, and we’re here to help.
  • As of 3p.m., more than 3,300 customers have been restored.
  • There is an isolated stretch of intense damage and that section will take longer to restore power, with restoration efforts continuing into Sunday. This area is divided into two distinct sets of boundaries.
  • The first is:
    • East of US Hwy 131
    • North of W Broadway St
    • South of Arnold St
    • West of the river
  • The second is:
    • North of the river
    • East of Water St.
    • West of Jefferson St.
    • South of 6th Ave.
  • The majority of customers who are not within the stated boundaries should expect to have power restored by 11p.m. tonight.
  • More than 500 restoration experts are working tirelessly for our customers, clearing debris, removing trees and repairing the electrical system. The rainy and windy weather can slow restoration work, but crews are dedicated to getting the lights back on as quickly and safely as possible.
  • For the safety of our crews and customers, it is imperative that the public avoid the areas where damage has taken place and restoration efforts are underway.
  • The best way to stay up to date is through I&M’s app and mobile alerts. The app shows the latest information specific to you and your account, and the text/email alerts update you whenever there’s a change in our estimates or service is restored.

CAN YOU RECEIVE POWER?

  • Now’s the time to check whether your home can safely receive power. If your service entrance (the part you own) is damaged, I&M can’t reconnect power until a licensed electrician makes repairs. You can learn more about homeowner and I&M responsibilities here.
  • If crews see damage that prevents I&M from restoring power to specific homes or businesses, we will call customers directly or leave a door hanger.

SAFETY TIPS

  • If you’re helping with cleanup, stay away from any downed wires and anything they’re touching. The wire could be touching a fence or hidden due to debris. Please report any hazards to I&M at 1-800-311-4634 or your local police.
  • Look Up. If you’re outside, please look up and be aware of your surroundings as the ground is saturated from the rain and trees and limbs could fall at any moment.
  • Some traffic lights are out. If a stoplight isn’t working, treat it as a stop sign. Take it slow on the road.
  • When using a generator, connect all appliances directly to the generator. Don’t connect the generator's electrical output to any home or building electrical circuits. Don’t use gas-powered generators in enclosed or partially enclosed spaces, like inside a garage or a home.
