I&M to Host Free Online Sessions: "Understanding Your Bill" Register Today

3-7-26 9p Update

Update: 3/7/2026 9:08 PM ET

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • I&M’s crews worked throughout the day to restore power to neighborhoods and businesses in the Three Rivers area that were devastated by Friday’s severe storms.  We understand that our customers and communities are counting on us and it is a privilege to be able to serve them in this crucial way.
  • Working throughout the area today to restore power, and seeing the damage firsthand, has reinforced just how much this community has been through. Even after power is restored, there’s more work ahead, and we’re committed to walking alongside our customers as they rebuild. We also want to thank the community for the kindness and hospitality shown to our crews during this challenging time.
  • As of 9p.m. the majority of customers who lost power from Friday’s storms have been restored. 520 customers remain without power, due to extensive damage and crews’ inability to access those areas for much of the day.
  • Those who remain without power and are able to receive power at their homes and businesses will be restored by Sunday. We will begin updating any remaining outages with specific restoration times tomorrow morning.
  • I&M crews will continue to work throughout the night and into tomorrow to restore power.
  • For the safety of our crews and customers, it is imperative that the public avoid the areas where damage has taken place and restoration efforts are underway.  Please do not move or go around barriers.  Do not approach our crews or trucks, especially if the buckets are in the air.
  • The best way to stay up to date is through I&M’s app and mobile alerts. The app shows the latest information specific to you and your account, and the text/email alerts update you whenever there’s a change in our estimates or service is restored.

CAN YOU RECEIVE POWER?

  • Now’s the time to check whether your home can safely receive power. If your service entrance (the part you own) is damaged, I&M can’t reconnect power until a licensed electrician makes repairs. You can learn more about homeowner and I&M responsibilities here.
  • If crews see damage that prevents I&M from restoring power to specific homes or businesses, we will call customers directly or leave a door hanger.

SAFETY TIPS

  • If you’re helping with cleanup, stay away from any downed wires and anything they’re touching. The wire could be touching a fence or hidden due to debris. Please report any hazards to I&M at 1-800-311-4634 or your local police.
  • Look Up. If you’re outside, please look up and be aware of your surroundings as the ground is saturated from the rain and trees and limbs could fall at any moment.
  • Some traffic lights are out. If a stoplight isn’t working, treat it as a stop sign. Take it slow on the road.
  • When using a generator, connect all appliances directly to the generator. Don’t connect the generator's electrical output to any home or building electrical circuits. Don’t use gas-powered generators in enclosed or partially enclosed spaces, like inside a garage or a home.
